Product Description

Chlorinated Paraffin Wax

They are manufactured by chlorination of liquid n - alkenes or paraffin wax and contain from 30 to 70% chlorine HCI is generated as the by - product in the process of chlorination. The products are often divided in three groups depending on the chain length: short chain(C10 - C13), medium (C14 - C17) and long (C18 - C30) chain lengths

Properties

They largely dependent on the chlorine content. Solubility in water: 1.7 to 236 μg/L at 25°C: pH: in the range from 5.06 to 7.12

The carbon chain length depends on the chain length of the feed stock

  • Short chain: based on C10 - C13 paraffin
  • Medium chain: Based on C14 - C17 paraffin
Characteristics
  • Soluble in Esters, Ether, Chlorinated Hydrocarbons, Ketones(expect Acetone) and Hydro Carbons
  • Compatible with most of the resins, Plastics and a wide range of plasticizers
  • Relatively inert
  • Non - Corrosive
  • Good resistance to acids and alkalies
Application
The largest application for chlorinated paraffins is as a platicizer, generally in conjunction with primary such as certain phthalates in flexible PVC. The Use of chlorinated paraffins in PVC imparts a number of technical benefits, of which the most significant is the enhancement of flame retardant properties. This is particularly of benefit in PVC flooring and cables

Chlorinated paraffins are also used as plasticiziers in paint sealants and adhesives where the main advantages over alternatives are their inertness and the enhancement of flame retardant properties. Higher chlorine content grades are used as flame retardants in a wide range of rubbers and polymer systems where they are often used in preference to phosphate and bromine - based additives

The other major outlet for chlorinated paraffins is in the formulation of metal working lubricants where they have long been recognized as one of the most effective extreme pressure additives for lubricants used in a wide range of machining and engineering operations.

With about a decade of experience in manufacturing of CP we have attained expertise in the offering properties which result in excellent results in various applications.

Uses

  • In PVC compounding industry as a secondary plasticizer in the manufacture of shoe soles suction hosepipes tubing cable wires carpets etc
  • Additive as flame retardants in rubber compound systems.
  • Used in the paint industry in anti corrosive and flame proof paints
  • Additive in industrial lubricants like gear oil as a fire retardant chemical additive
  • Used in carbon paper as a flexible coating
